***With the health and safety of our supporters being of utmost importance, Abilities First has opted to postpone the 2020 Golf Classic. But… a NEW DATE has been locked in! The 2020 Abilities First Golf Classic will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at The Powelton Club in Newburgh. Secure your foursome with branding benefits via a sponsorship today! Non-sponsorship foursomes and individual golfer spots will now open on August 17th. We look forward to getting on the green with you as the weather starts to cool and the leaves begin to turn. Thank you for your understanding!

We are looking ahead to a great day of golf at one of the country’s oldest private clubs and to reconnecting with community and business leaders while making a lasting impact to the Abilities First mission. From the moment you arrive, golfers and sponsors will experience a golf outing that is clearly a one-of-a-kind experience. Enjoy an array of course specialties including food and beverage samplings, cigars, silent auction and more.

Prizes awarded for Women’s Team, Men’s Team & Mixed Teams, along with Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin & Hole-in-One challenges.

All proceeds from the 2020 Golf Classic will benefit the services and programs of Abilities First and the Foundation for Abilities First NY.

The Powelton Club Golf Course

The Powelton Club golf course is presently 6,193 yards in length with a rating of 71.4 and has a slope of 134. Designed by Devereux Emmet in 1923, the Club’s golf course is walkable, and each hole presents a challenge to your game in a different way.  The short par fours offer strategic options that invite birdies but often penalize with bogies. The greens offer a variety of challenges to players. Some are at ground level and flanked by flat bunkers, while other holes are elevated and fiercely guarded by large, deep hazards. The terrain can be severe and water is a factor on 11 out of the 18 holes. A stream crossing the property feeds into four ponds, including the picturesque Par 3 seventh hole. The existing design is known to be both challenging and memorable. It is accentuated by wonderfully quick greens and tight fairways with deep rough and troublesome pin placements.
