AF’s Own Brings Mythology, Magic & Personal Motivation to NY Alliance Art Show

Art and magic are classic forms of self-expression and Kyle L. – a magician and a craftsman – enthusiastically embraces both. The Abilities First Supportive staff recently helped Kyle enter the NY Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation Art Show, where the 26-year-old was able to demonstrate his passion for magic, mythology, and so much more.

Kyle’s showcase featured his homemade Wizard Workshop, which includes spells, charms, and more. His overall theme, healing and empowerment, was inspired by the healing benefits he found in magic during COVID-19.

Kyle, who lives in an AFI community residence and is supported through its Residential Habilitation Services, hopes he can continue to share his craft and his love for magic and mythology with others to inspire healing within themselves.

Kyle finds that magic comes naturally to him, and he loves mythology just as much. He enjoys sharing his passion with others, and often shares his craft with the community at local fairs and flea markets. During these outings, Kyle wears his ceremonial vestments – his tuxedo, cape, and John Lennon-style sunglasses – to express himself and further share his craft.

“Some items are acquired, some bought, and some I make myself from nature, like the sticks that I carve,” Kyle said.
